Who Can Drive a HCT Minibus?

Due to the nature of community transport we have to comply with a strict code of practice as to who can drive our vehicles.Drivers must be over the age of 21 and have held a full UK/EU driving licence for at least two years with no major endorsements.

Mini bus driving entitlement for drivers over 70 is subject to a satisfactory full PCV driver medical certificate, renewable every three years.

All drivers must hold a current MiDAS certificate (see below) and be registered with HCT. Only drivers registered with HCT may drive our vehicles.

MiDAS Driver Training (Minibus Driver’s Awareness Scheme)

MiDAS is a scheme developed by the Community Transport Association to increase the safe driving of minibuses and ensures passenger comfort and safety. It provides a nationally recognised standard for minibus drivers.

HCT provides the specialist training to MiDAS standards for all drivers. The fees payable for training are given in the charges leaflet.

Other training may be available upon request.

We provide MiDAS training to all of the above Council Departments.
